There is a hint of excitement lingering in the sea breeze down at Florida Beach in Dawesville today with the opening of new roads that will deliver many benefits to the area. Construction teams have been working in overdrive to complete the roadworks that have created a link from Dadaragan Drive (off Ocean Road) onto Bailey Boulevard and through to the Dawesville Deviation Road.
The road was funded and constructed by the Florida Partnership who proudly announce it's opening to traffic.
The opening announcement was attended by by the Honourable Dr Kim Hames, Member for Dawesville, John and Phillip Perry of the Florida Partnership, City of Mandurah CEO Mark Newman, Ocean Road Primary School Principal Dean Finlay, along with P&C representatives and the Student Council.
With term two of school resuming today, these new roads will bring much relief to the parents of students from both Ocean Road Primary and Dawesville Catholic Primary Schools as they will provide a loop which will assist in the easy flow of traffic through the area.
Dr Hames said the issue of traffic congestion around the two schools has taken many years to resolve.
"Over the years, I have worked with the City of Mandurah, developers and the Water Corporation to find a way to ease traffic congestion at the schools and make it safer for students," he said.
"I want to congratulate Florida Partnership for making the decision to build these roads."
"I am very pleased that these roads have now been built."
The new roads also provide an entrance to the site of a proposed shopping centre in the locale. The neighbourhood shopping centre precinct plans were passed for approval by the City of Mandurah during August 2011 and have been endorsed by the Western Australian Planning Commission.
These new amenities are a valuable asset for the residents of Florida, which nestled by the beach is becoming an increasingly attractive place to live.
